Call for COVID-19 Research Collaboration Links
Published: 13 August 2020
The collaboration builds on an existing partnership between the University of Glasgow and University of Sydney
The University of Glasgow boasts many successful existing research links with its strategic partner, the University of Sydney. These links cover a wide variety of disciplines including Geosciences, Music, Business and Veterinary Science.
An MoU was signed in 2016 which committed both universities to developing a range of collaborative opportunities and in 2018, colleagues were delighted to launch the USyd-Glasgow Partnership Collaboration Awards (PCA); a joint funding opportunity to develop and deepen research links between the institutions.
The global outbreak of COVID-19 calls for global thinking and global solutions more than ever. Now is the time to collaborate with our partners and explore the various avenues of research in light of the challenges that have occurred as a result of the Coronavirus.
The University of Sydney is currently carrying out research on COVID-19 from a multitude of angles including the development of a vaccine and the diagnosis of the disease itself as well as the presence of COVID-19 in animals and the wider impact of the disease, including from an economic and environmental perspective.
The University of Glasgow is now asking for researchers from all disciplines who are investigating COVID-19 and who have an interest in collaborating with colleagues in Sydney, to please get in touch.
Whether you already have links with Sydney that you would like to build on, or would like more information on how to collaborate with colleagues at Sydney, you are invited to contact Prof Clare McManus, the Dean for Global Engagement for South East Asia & Australasia, for further details on how the University can support you with this and help you take your collaboration forward.
