Invitation to the University's technical community to take part in launch of the Technicians Commitment
The University is hosting a launch event for the Technician Commitment on Monday, 20 May, 2019, between 1 - 4pm in the Sir Charles Wilson Building
This is a reminder to members of the technical community of this exciting event which includes guest speakers and the chance to network. Further details on how to confirm your attendance are included below.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to come along and hear about the Technician Commitment and how you, as a member of the University’s technical community, can get involved. The event will begin at 1pm with a buffet lunch to give you a chance to network with your technical colleagues across the University. Following lunch, various speakers, including Senior Vice-Principal, Professor Neal Juster, and Vice-Principal for Academic and Educational Innovation Professor Frank Coton, will talk about the challenges facing the technical community and the University’s Action Plan that has been agreed to ensure visibility; recognition; career development; and sustainability for our technician population.
In addition, our Technician Champions will be introduced and will provide an overview of their role as advocates for the Technician Commitment, helping to deliver the action plan.
We are also extremely pleased that Kelly Vere, Higher Education Engagement Manager from the Science Council will be attending to discuss what the Technician Commitment means across the Higher Education sector. Kelly is leading the Science Council work with the Higher Education sector to promote a professional identity for scientists and technicians. She is also the Technical Skills Development Manager at the University of Nottingham and champions the crucial role of technicians in Higher Education and leads the strategic development of Nottingham’s technical staff.
