Student Email is upgrading to Exchange Online in Office 365, featuring a huge 50GB mailbox and joining up email with instant messaging, audio and video online collaboration.
The upgrade will start to roll out to students in November, stop for the exam period, and resume from 19 December. You will receive a message before your mailbox is upgraded.
After the upgrade, the Office 365 portal is the recommended way to access Email and Calendar, and you'll still be able to access email from MyGlasgow.
Mobile email
If you access email on a mobile device, you may not even notice the change. IMAP clients will require a manual settings change though, and some older devices might too. You'll be able to find information on MyGlasgow and the IT Services webpages. The Student IT Helpdesk is open 7 days a week, in the Library level 4, to help you with your mobile devices.
Staff contacting students
For staff in Colleges and Services, there will be no change in how you send email to students.
Security remider
Email security is important. The University will NEVER ask you for your details via e-mail. If you are in any doubt about whether opening an email/attachment is safe, contact the IT Helpdesk.
