This workshop is designed to support staff planning to travel to China on University business. It covers an introduction to the educational, social and political context in which they will work as well as an introduction to business and social etiquette and some basics of spoken Chinese.

During this workshop you will:

  • get an introductory overview of the direction of change and issues in contemporary Chinese economy, society and politics including the higher education context.
  • explore the basics of Chinese business etiquette and practices in building positive and productive working relationships.
  • enhance your cultural awareness by providing an introduction to Chinese social practices and etiquette.
  • learn some simple greetings and phrases in Chinese
