Record crowds attended the WW1 Digging In open day at Pollok Park near Glasgow on 28 August.
With warfare re-enactments and a chance for the public to wander through reconstructed Allied and German trenches, the event was hailed as a tremendous success.
Professor Tony Pollard from the University of Glasgow, who is battlefield archaeologist for the site, said the historian actors helped bring history to life showing what it was like for soldiers on both sides fighting on the front line.
