Dr Donna Yates, the University of Glasgow's renowned expert in antiquities trafficking at the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Donna, who's from the United States, told Campus e-News: "I am honoured that the RSA thought of me for fellowship as it signifies how seriously the UK approaches the issue of protecting cultural heritage from theft and destruction. I hope that I can work with the RSA in this area in the future."

Donna's research explores the relationship between communities, governments, the law, and the operation of transnational criminal markets. She has helped develop regulatory mechanisms for controlling the illicit antiquities trade. She conducts field-based research to better understand the implementation of regulation and the behaviours, norms, and values of the stakeholder communities that are governed by it.
