The Royal Society has announced the appointment of fifteen new Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award holders, including two members of the University of Glasgow community.

Jointly funded by the Wolfson Foundation and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), the scheme aims to provide universities with additional support to enable them to attract science talent from overseas and retain respected UK scientists of outstanding achievement and potential.

The Glasgow appointments are:

Professor Colin McInnes -  Ultra-low energy trajectories for near Earth asteroid capture and return

Professor William Sloan -  Ecologically engineering the next generation of environmental biotechnologies
