The University's Procurement Office has won CIPS Corporate Certification (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) making the UofG the only current university in Europe to hold the distinction and only the second globally.
The awards keep coming for the University's Procurement team...part of the Finance Division. The Procurement Office has just been awarded CIPS Corporate Certification (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply).
It is an extraordinary achievement, making the University of Glasgow the only current university in Europe to hold the distinction and only the second globally.
It also means University of Glasgow is one of about 120 organisations which currently have a valid certification across all sectors.
Josephine Gallagher, Head of Procurement, said: "We went after CIPS Corporate Certification because it is the globally respected standard. It demonstrates our team’s commitment to actively contribute to the University’s vision through highly competent procurement practices, to maximise opportunity for academic success for our student community. In order to achieve this standard, we have put in place robust policy and procedures and improved governance and raised the profile of procurement as a value contributor to the University, academic staff, researchers and students. We are now aiming to take this to the next level and reach the CIPS Gold standard in 2017/2018."
In addition to the CIPS achievement and following the success of winning the Scottish “Go Procurement team of the Year 14/15” in October 2014, the Procurement Office has won the National “GO Procurement Team of the Year Award 2015/16”. The title is part of the annual National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards which this year were presented at a black-tie ceremony at The Midland Hotel in Manchester.
Hosted by BBC presenter Beccy Meehan, the ceremony was a glittering finale to the largest National GO Awards event yet, with hundreds of submissions received, all highlighting the work that takes places on a daily basis within UK public procurement.
