The University has published its Shared Parental Leave policy which will widen the options open to parents of children due to be born or adopted from 5th April 2015.
Shared Parental Leave now provides eligible parents with more options (beyond traditional maternity leave) when considering how to care for, and bond with, their new child. It allows parents to share the care of their child during the first year of birth or adoption by taking any leftover maternity/adoption leave and converting it into a Shared Parental Leave entitlement which can be split as required between both parents. They may also be eligible for some shared parental pay.
Using Shared Parental Leave, both parents can take leave at the same time or they may wish to alternate between periods of leave and periods of work.
Please refer to the Shared Parental Leave Policy for full details.
