The University’s next five-year strategy, approved by Court last week, places people at its heart.
The University’s next five-year strategy, approved by Court last week, places people at its heart.
Its title is Inspiring People – Changing the World. It will guide the organisation until 2020.
The formal launch and roll-out of the document will come in September. All staff will get a hard copy of the document and there’ll be more direct contact and opportunities to discuss the document involving the senior management team. There will also be engagement at College, School, Research Institute and University Services departmental levels. All the accompanying resources will be available through the MyGlasgow Staff portal.
In a message for the strategy booklet, Principal and Vice-Chancellor Anton Muscatelli, says: “At the plan’s very heart is every one of you: our staff, our inspiring people. The strategy is about giving you the support, development, infrastructure and environment you need to further the University’s ambition.”
The University’s new vision is “to be a world-class, world-changing university”.
The accompanying mission statement aims “to bring inspiring people together and create a world-class environment for learning and research, empowering staff and students alike to discover and share knowledge that can change the world.”
Partly based on the 2014 Staff Survey, the implementation of the strategy will be driven by three workstreams which have been engaged with the process for many months.
They are:
Empowering People – creating a culture of empowerment and providing opportunities for staff at all levels.
Focus – managing our resources wisely and identifying the areas in which the University has the capability to lead the world.
Agility – streamlining our systems and processes in order to keep pace with global tastes and trends in higher education.
