Angela Constance MSP, the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, has been attending a conference on campus: Character Culture and Values. It is hosted by the educational charity Character Scotland in partnership with the University of Glasgow.
Billed as "a major international conference", the event is exploring character and values-based education and is taking place today (15 June) and tomorrow, in the Main Building. The conference has attracted more than 200 delegates and involves key international education figures and many of Scotland’s education and youth leaders.
In the first such event of its kind, the conference draws attention to Scotland’s success at cultivating positive character attributes in young people in education, the community and in business.
Ms Constance, a University of Glasgow graduate, was learning about the work of Character Scotland, and meeting speakers.
