Logo of the London Mathematical SocietyThe London Mathematical Society Popular Lectures present exciting topics in mathematics and their applications to a wide audience. The LMS Popular Lecture events feature two lecturers who have been chosen for their mathematical distinction and communication skills.

The Society aims to present a wide range of mathematical topics in the lectures, which are suitable for all who have an interest in mathematics including those taking Higher/A-Level, teachers and those in the lay public with an interest in mathematics.

‌To mark the London Mathematical Society's 150th Anniversary, a popular lectures event will be held in 2015 in Glasgow. The Lectures will be held on 21 October at 6:30 in the Main Auditorium, Technology and Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde. The speakers will be Dr Hannah Fry who will give a lecture titled Patterns in Human Behaviour and Professor Ruth King whose lecture will be titled How Many (Estimating Population Sizes).
