The University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School has joined an elite group of fewer than 1% of the world’s business schools that hold triple accreditation.

Professor Jim Love- Adam Smith Business SchoolThe School has been awarded accreditation under the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), operated by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). Accreditations already held are from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

EQUIS accreditation is one of the most important benchmarks available to business schools worldwide.

Institutions that are accredited by EQUIS must demonstrate not only excellence in teaching, the student experience, research and outreach, but also a high degree of internationalisation and interaction with the corporate world.

Excellence

The award reflects the University's commitment to providing a quality learning experience for our students, and the excellence of our academic staff.

Welcoming the news, Professor Jim Love, Head of the Adam Smith Business School said. “The Adam Smith Business School, indeed the University of Glasgow, are extremely pleased with the EQUIS accreditation award. As a consequence of undertaking the accreditation process, the School has learned much and has much to build on. We look forward with greater confidence in our efforts to enhancing further the standing and performance of the School, and to engaging fully with EFMD and the EQUIS team.”

EQUIS' fundamental objective is to raise the standard of management education worldwide. Its focus is on all management programmes offered by an institution from a first degree up to PhD level.

Internationally recognised

EQUIS attaches particular importance to the creation of an effective learning environment that favours the development of students’ managerial and entrepreneurial skills, and fosters their sense of global responsibility. EQUIS look for innovation in all aspects of the business school, including programme design and education.

Triple accreditation is an internationally recognised benchmark that validates the credibility and performance of the Adam Smith Business School. It indicates the growing reputation of the school and its place within the business community internationally.

With many students deciding to study outside their own country, companies recruiting worldwide, and with business schools building alliances internationally, there is a growing need for institutions to be recognised worldwide as schools that deliver high quality education and the skillsets needed for the future. Triple accreditation for the Adam Smith Business School endorses this.
