BBC Radio 4 is looking for academics and students from the University of Glasgow to take part in a new series of their quiz show, The 3rd Degree.  The show pits three academics against three students in a quiz format at a different University each week, recorded in front of a live audience of academics and students.

The 3rd Degree is hosted by Steve Punt, best known as a satirist on The Now Show.  The show has the underlying rigour of a formal quiz, combined with a light-hearted quest to discover how the students fare against their elders.  Contestants are there to answer the questions, not necessarily to be funny, although the production team do expect them to enjoy the experience.

The rounds vary between specialist and general knowledge, quick fire bell, buzzer rounds and individual questions.

The production team are looking for 4 academics from a range of subjects to participate.

Recording will take place between October – December 2011 with the shows being aired in early 2012.

If you are interested in taking part in the show, please contact the media relations team on 0141 330 3535.
