Several University staff will be involved in a one-off Aye Write! event to mark the 75th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War
On Saturday 15 October, several members of the University will be helping to mark the 75th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War with an event being held in the Mitchell Theatre in the Mitchell Library.
The event, which is being organised as a special, one-off event by Aye Write! Festival will feature film, music, poetry and politics split over two sessions, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.
The event, which is being chaired by Professor Willy Maley, also includes contributions from a number of University staff, including Creative Writing students and current tutors, Rodge Glass, Nick Brooks, Alan Bissett, Laura Marney and Elizabeth Reeder, alongside Dr David Archibald from the School of Culture and Creative Arts.

Afternoon session:
1.30 - 3.00pm: Roundtable: History, Memory, Legacy
3.15 - 4.15pm: Reel Histories: the Spanish Civil War in Cinema, from Hollywood to the Avant-Garde
4.30 - 6.00pm: Our Fathers Fought Through Franco
Evening session:
7.00 - 9.00pm: An Evening of Poetry, Songs and Stories
