The University offers its sympathy and support to Japanese staff and students at this difficult time
We have all been greatly shocked by the recent disasters in Japan. We are sending letters of support on behalf of the University to the Japanese universities with which we have a Memorandum of Understanding, to the Japanese Embassy and Consulate General, and a special one to the universities in the afflicted area offering, for example, research students access to facilities and equipment if their infrastructure is damaged.
Please inform any Japaenses students that the International Student Support Team in the Fraser Building can provide advice on many matters such as financial support, urgent travel arrangements, visa advice and extensions, and counseling support for students. Please do not hesitate to contact the Team via the Student Service Enquiry Desk on Level 2 of the Fraser Building, or alternatively you can email International Student Support directly.
Many of you have asked how to donate to the disaster fund and I have been advised that the best way is to send contributions to the British Red Cross which will direct the donation to the Japanese Red Cross.
