Make a video on why your research is relevant and win an Apple iPad 2. Can you get your research message across in 4 minutes? Can you explain complex science in an entertaining way?
The Knowledge Transfer Account has launched a competition open to students and researchers at Glasgow interested in using video to help present their research to a wider audience. The video should present the relevance of your research in a wider context, showing the potential benefits to society and the economy.
Competition rules:
- Entrants should be part of a research team but do not need to be either Principal Investigator or co-investigators. Entrants must be a member of the University of Glasgow, either as a student (final year undergrad or post grad), or a researcher (post-doc, RA or researcher).
- Team or multiple entries are allowed but only one entry per individual.
- The subject matter of the video must be research undertaken within the College of Science and Engineering. However we would encourage collaborative entries for example Science and Engineering working with other disciplines to produce engaging and interesting videos. The lead entrant must be a student or researcher from the College of Science and Engineering.
- The entry should last no more than 4 minutes and should make use of readily available technology such as digital cameras, iPhones, Flip Cameras, Camcorders etc. Innovative use of the technology is encouraged in order to engage with the audience. The audience for the videos are secondary school children, future students, and other research groups operating in the field.
- Your entry should focus on an aspect of your team’s research which is new and exciting, and should be submitted in a format suitable for upload to U-tube or iTunesU.
- Content of the video and audio should not infringe third party copyright.
- A condition of entry is that the University may use all or part of the entry for promotional and educational purposes.
