Great communicators wanted
Published: 16 May 2011
If you love communicating, join Publicitynet - our informal opt-in communications email network
Many staff in areas across the entire University are members of Publicitynet. With some responsibilities shifting after our restructure, and staff leaving through VSER, it makes sense to 'relaunch' this initiative to expand the publicity net.
Staff joined this handy network to receive, and pass on, less formal items of internal communications - for example, news about talks, staff discounts, anything that may be of interest, but which is not exactly 'corporate'.
We can also use the network to appeal for help from others - eg who has any academic contacts in Hong Kong; who has any students who would take part in a documentary; who’d like to volunteer for a ‘mediterranean diet’ trial? The more we participate, the richer a resource it becomes.
Members use this less formal channel to pass news and information round all areas of the University, and also to and from Corporate Communications.
Appropriate news can then be passed on to colleagues within our own areas, published on the staff news site (www.gla.ac.uk/staff) or could even result in an item for Campus eNews.
The aim is simply to communicate more, and to try to do it more successfully. This is just one more method that we can all try – as keen communicators - to make sure relevant news gets out to everyone.
Suggestions for improvement will be most welcome , and if anyone you know would like to be included then ask them to send an email to Annie Vaz or Nick Wade
Once you are signed up, you are welcome to start sending out your relevant material using the publicitynet address (publicitynet@gla.ac.uk).
