Library excellence recognised

The University's Library was recently awarded the Scottish Library Excellence Award for Service to Users
Scottish Library Excellence Award for Services to Users was awarded to University of Glasgow Library in recognition of their achievement as National Student Survey Winner, as they achieved the highest library score for Scottish HE Libraries.
The award was presented by Christine May, Chair of SLIC (Scottish Library & Information Council), at the Scottish Parliament on 18th January 2011
"I was very pleased to accept this award on behalf of all the staff who work hard in the library to deliver the highest quality services to students," said Helen.
The University’s Library is also helping to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the appointment of Alexander Wilson, as first Regius Chair of Astronomy in the University of Glasgow, a small display has been mounted on Level 3 of the Library.
It describes the early teaching of the subject in the University, and the various University observatories, as well as featuring significant items on Astronomy from the Library’s Maps and Special Collections. The Display will run until spring 2011. It is also available virtually at:
