Congratulations to Professor Muffy Calder, Professor of Formal Methods at Glasgow, who has been awarded on OBE in the Queens New Year's Honours list for 2011.

Professor Calder has been at the University of Glasgow since 1988, and is currently Dean of Research in the College of Science and Engineering. Previously, she was Head of the Department of Computing Science for four years, from 2003 to 2007.

Professor Calder's research is in modelling and reasoning about the behaviour of complex software and biochemical systems using mathematics and automated reasoning tools.
