Using our resources
The Library holds collections of international significance to support learning, teaching and research.
The following sections provide information on how to find and utilise our collections.
Library Search
You can use Library Search to discover resources throughout our collections, including articles, books, book chapters, conference proceedings, and newspaper articles – all with links to access the material whether online or on a shelf. You can also include resources found beyond the library’s collections.
Requesting resources and accessing material the Library does not hold
We welcome suggestions for new books and resources, including journals and databases. A member of the College Librarian team may contact you to discuss your request.
If the item you are looking for is not held by the Library, we can try and obtain it for you via the Inter Library Loan Service (ILL). Loans are often more efficient for accessing journal articles, theses, book chapters, and books required for shorter periods of time.
Our Scan and Send service for distance learners can be used for requesting single chapters from print books held by the Library.
Resources and support for data and text-mining
Databases that the Library subscribes to will often allow data and text-mining, but please contact us before proceeding as license conditions and access methods vary between publishers and databases.
Please also refer to our acceptable use policies.
Our research repositories:
both support the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) version 2.
IT Services run a cluster of machines to provide researchers with computational resource:
Copyright for researchers
Whether using or producing information, you will need to have some understanding of copyright and how copyright affects how you use and re-use resources.
