Library Research Annexe
The Library Research Annexe (LRA) is the University of Glasgow Library’s off-site store and is home to collection items not actively consulted as part of current teaching. The collection holds books, runs of printed journals, and a variety of other materials including Parliamentary papers, maps, microfilms and newspapers.
Borrowing
The LRA collections are available to all UofG staff and students. External requests may be considered.
Searching for books and journals
If the item you need is already on loan, choose Request It and follow the instructions.
Our electronic and print journals are listed separately so you may get two results for the same title. We don't always have the same coverage in print/electronic and some journals are only available in one format.
Opening hours & access
The LRA is not currently open to visitors.
Library staff are on-site Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 – 16:00 working with the collections. They can answer enquiries and provide access to materials either via digital service or by delivering them for consultation in the main library on Hillhead Street.
Contact us
Periodicals and books held at the LRA can also be access remotely using either the Scan & Send service or by booking a Virtual Consultation.
Scan and send
Use the request form via your Library Account to request a scan of items held in print in the library. There are limits on the number of requests you can place, and the total content which can be scanned from any one item, so if you are unsure of the items you want to use, or the specific pages you require one of our other services will help you be specific.
Virtual Reading Room
You can use the virtual reading room services to view items held in the main collections to help you decide if the titles are of use to you, and if so which pages you may want scanned for you. If you are involved in developing courses it can also help you specify section to digitise via Reading Lists @ GLA for your students.
