The Cross Steeple
This view shows the seventeenth-century Tolbooth and steeple which dominated Glasgow Cross at the junction of the High Street and Trongate. The Tolbooth, or Town House, was remodelled in Gothic style by David Hamilton in the early nineteenth century and survived until the 1920s when only the seven-storey steeple escaped demolition.
