PLATE FIFTEEN

British Linen Bank Buildings

David Hamilton designed the office for the British Linen Bank at the corner of Queen Street and Ingram Street across from the Royal Exchange. It was erected in the early 1840s on the site of the Gaelic Church. Later additions to the building spoiled its appearance and it was replaced by the present structure, occupied by the Bank of Scotland, in the 1970s.
