MS University of Glasgow, Hunter 409 (V.3.7) One of the aims of this digital version is to allow images of the manuscript to be compared directly with the printed edition by William Thynne dating from 1532. Thynne assumed that the translation was by Geoffrey Chaucer. It is highly likely that Thynne used the Glasgow manuscript as his copy text, as the manuscript has clear signs of printer's marks and the resemblances between both texts are too great to suggest that another manuscript was used. Two leaves are displaced in the manuscript and this error is repeated in misplaced lines in the printed edition.
