How to search, borrow and return items
Search
Use Library search to find books and journals.
If the item you need is on loan, you can recall it, choose Request it.
Our electronic and print journals are listed separately so you may get two hits in the results list for the same title. Please note that we don't always have the same coverage in print/electronic and some journals are only available in one format.
Borrow
Take your books and card, to the self-issue machine and follow the on-screen instructions. During staffed hours you can also take items to the enquiry desk.
Standard loan books can be borrowed for up to 4 weeks (12 weeks for staff and postgraduates). Alternatively, please take the items to be borrowed to the JIML Desk, where a member of staff will assist you.
You can renew items up to 5 times from your Library Account unless another reader needs them or they are overdue. Renewals may also be made in person or by phone (0141-211-9705). If a book has been recalled by another user, you will be contacted via your student email address and asked to return it.
The Short Loan Collection has different loan periods.
Return
Books may be returned either directly to the JIML or via the University Library, except for short loan items which must be returned to the JIML only.
A book drop box is located beside the JIML entrance.
