In the final week of August, our ASBS L&T focussed colleagues completed the Learning and Teaching Summer School. We had twenty education focussed colleagues, including some amazing GTAs, getting involved this year.
The school ran over four weeks and covered: L&T careers, scholarship, and mentoring L&T academics. With only one PowerPoint over the whole four weeks, colleagues used games and walks in Kelvingrove Park to explore how L&T careers provide a challenging but distinctive purpose for academics and professionals with an interest in teaching.
The final week was a fabulous writing retreat at the House for an Art Lover, in Bellahouston Park. The surroundings, influenced by the Glasgow Style designer Charles Rennie MacKintosh, were an ideal opportunity to advance their scholarship projects.
The Summer School followed a Celebration of Scholarship poster session, which was held earlier in the year. The aim of these activities is continuing to build a learning and teaching community in ASBS.
