Student Skills & Futures
The Student Skills & Futures workstream is focused on implementing a key part of the Learning & Teaching Strategy by identifying opportunities to integrate skills development within the curriculum and out with. This workstream aims to ensure that students are clear about the skills they are developing throughout their University journey.
Two premises essential to our thinking:
- Embedding in the curriculum is key for inclusivity
- We should aim for resiliency and coherence in our learners
Embedding employability within the curriculum
Our framework and accompanying resources provide an institutional approach to embedding employability within curriculum design and delivery and empowering students to articulate the skills and knowledge value of their degree.
Student engagement
- A holistic approach to student development
- Underpinned by a student friendly skills taxonomy and self-reflection model
Our aim is to:
- Engage students with skills development opportunities (inside and outside curriculum)
- Support them to identify, explore and make positive choices towards a meaningful personal future
- Help them reflect on and articulate the value of their curated learning experience
