Instructions for new users

Go to UofG's MathWorks portal

  • Choose Sign in to get started
  • Sign in with your UofG email and password
  • Choose Create a MathWorks Account
  • Complete the profile form using these details:
    • Email address: Your UofG email (must end @glasgow.ac.uk, @student.gla.ac.uk or @research.gla.ac.uk)
    • Password: Do not re-use your UofG password here, choose something different
    • Other fields: Your details
  • MathWorks will now send you an email to verify your email address. Go to your inbox and click the link: Verify your email

You will be taken directly to the MATLAB download page where you can download your preferred version. The versions are listed by release name only eg R2018b, R2018a, R2017b, etc.

Instructions for existing MathWorks account holders

You can link your existing MathWorks account to your UofG account to access your free license.

Your existing MathWorks account must be registered to your UofG email (@glasgow.ac.uk, @student.gla.ac.uk or @research.gla.ac.uk). If it isn't, you can change the email on your MathWorks account by editing your profile.

AFTER your current MATLAB license expires:

  • Go to UofG's MathWorks portal
  • Choose Sign in to get started
  • Sign in with your UofG email address and password
  • Choose Sign in to your existing MathWorks account
  • Sign in with your existing MathWorks account details
  • Your free license should now be applied automatically
