EOS Services
We supply devices to new users, or to users whose current device needs changing. We aspire to fit everyone with a device every 4 years under normal circumstances. We take care of everything, from device selection to procurement and issue and then everything the user needs to work effectively, and stay secure until we replace that device with a new one.
We support Mac and PC, desktop and tablet though we are mobile first and will issue laptops or tablets to all users by default.
Security
Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation
All EOS endpoints (desktop, laptop, tablet – Mac or PC) are configured with security in mind.
The systems are monitored by our local Cyber Security team in real time providing much improved protection for your data and your colleagues when collaborating. Users who require Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation can be supported by these platforms* for both Mac and PC.
- There are many other requirements from funding bodies which can be met by EOS devices with additional configurations.
Cyber resilience
Making you and the University more secure.
- All EOS provision is connected into the Universities advanced malware protection system.
- This gives every device a real time connection to the University's Cyber Protection team, and our next generation anti-malware suite from Microsoft.
EOS systems are the most resilient, compliant and secure systems on campus.
Adoption
Adoption starts with a conversation where we will help to identify your needs, work with you on your current complement of machines and provide a plan for how we move you towards 100% coverage of your endpoints.
- This will incorporate any existing information on your end user fleet (such as a local asset register) and your operating requirements and processes
- We will then agree a plan for adoption in local areas which will detail all the work items required to progress and propose a schedule for their adoption
- We then start any new kit issue through the EOS pipeline whilst incorporating anything not already managed as we go
Existing managed desktops
EOS includes our current IT services builds for laptops (SSD, MyDevice and MyMac), desktops (SSD and CSCE) and kiosk services (like learning spaces), so you may already have coverage across much of your end user estate. EOS differs as it covers all your endpoints and includes purchasing assistance formally, for the first time. You may also have a locally managed desktop.
- Please contact your local IT support if you need advice.
Purchasing
We will advise you on what to buy and supply it for you.
- EOS will manage the purchase of your desktop and laptop computers, tablets and the peripherals to support them like monitors, docking stations, headset etc.
- This will be procured via UofG purchasing frameworks for better value across a range of standard products. This process is designed to work with local specialists in specification and selection of equipment and will accommodate ordering from any supplier for special cases.
Everything will be registered centrally and for future support.
Please note: we are building out our procurement function currently and these will be available in a more widespread way soon.
While we are getting this ready, we are of course available to provide any advice.
Additional costs
There are no additional costs to adopting EOS outwith the purchase cost of the devices and peripherals.
Hardware asset management
Keep track of all your assets and their disposal.
- All devices and peripherals procured via this route will be recorded in a central asset management database, within the UofG Helpdesk, so calls can be raised against assets, with the associated reporting
- This can also incorporate existing asset information and will eventually replace all existing hardware asset databases
Software asset management
Get access to the software you need.
- EOS provides a team to assist with the purchasing and adding software to all your devices. This includes detailed, accurate reporting on license consumption and efficiency as well as meeting the University's legal obligations whilst guaranteeing best value from institutional licensing.
All EOS devices report on software usage.
Please note: we are building out our software asset management function currently and these will be available in a more widespread way soon.
While we are getting this ready, we are of course available to provide any advice.
Role based managed devices
A solution for all the different kinds of laptop and desktop, private and shared computing needs regardless of location.
- EOS has a solution for every type of user, in every scenario. This includes personal and shared portable and desktop computers at the University (Personal laptop, shared desktop, student desktop, kiosk mode system in a learning space) so will meet all your IT needs in a single service.
Where EOS doesn’t fit your requirements, we will work with you to tailor something to suit your needs.
Remote support
All EOS systems can be supported remotely via our central IT support teams.
- Local support teams can be empowered to administer EOS devices
We can provide local IT admin staff with training to allow access to administrator accession devices so that you can continue to be supported by the same team you are now.
