Binding: France, 18th-century red goatskin;  covers decorated with triple gold fillets to form a two panel design, a floral ornament at the outer corners of the inner panel;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves.   Size: 336 × 232 mm. 
Leaf size: 327 x 222 mm.
Annotations: Very occasional early marginal annotations in Latin and in Latin and Greek;  vestiges of early signatures.
Decoration: Epigraphic initials (at the beginning of the Table 1/1r and at the start of each of the twelve books) supplied in two shades of red and further decorated with interlacing in yellow and brown;  other initials supplied in red or blue;  eleven-line title of book I supplied in alternate red and blue capitals;  titles of books II-XII supplied in red and blue (book V in red only and book VI in blue only);  chapter headings supplied in red;  book numbers in the Table supplied in red;  book numbers in the body of the text supplied once for each book in red and black in the upper margin.
