Provenance: Trier, Benedictines, S. Maria ad Martyres:  inscription (partially legible under ultra violet lamp) on 1/1r “Codex m[ona]ste[r]ij b[eate] M[ari]e ad m[artir]es p[ro]pe Treueri[m] sup[er] lit[us] moselle ord[inis] s[an]ctj benedictj”.

Binding: France, 18th-century red goatskin decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  turquoise silk bookmark.   Size:  320 x 224 mm.
Leaf size: 311 x 208 mm.
Annotations: Occasional brief marginal annotations in Latin and “nota” marks in an early hand;  signatures added in an early hand at extreme lower right-hand corner of recto leaves (a few cropped by binder).
Decoration: Initials supplied throughout in red and reserved white or in red alone;  capital strokes, paragraph marks and underlining in red throughout.
Imperfections: None.
