| Annotations: | Occasional marginal annotations in Latin in an early hand; occasional “nota” marks and manicules; loosely inserted in the book is a torn fragment of paper (probably used as a bookmark) on which is written, in Italian, a reference to the convent of St. Catherine at Pisa, with the date 1563. |
| Decoration: | On a1r a twelve-line historiated initial ‘Q’ is supplied in crimson, blue and green and is set on a square gold ground with the figure of Aquinas portrayed within the frame of the letter (the saint with a gilt halo and dressed in black and white robes holds a blue-bound book); floral and foliate decoration in crimson, blue and green, embellished with gold discs and hair-line pen-work, extends into the inner margin; other initials and paragraph marks supplied in alternate red and blue (the latter often with reserved white); a few of the printed 'questio' running headings are enclosed within a hand-drawn brown ink scroll.
