| Binding: | England, 16th-century blind-tooled calf over wooden boards; the covers are decorated with a rectangular panel formed by an intersecting floral roll within triple fillets; the panel is divided diagonally by triple fillets to form lozenges and triangles, each of which is filled with a lattice or half-lattice stamp; remains of two brass clasps, catch plates on rear board; identified by J.B. Oldham as an Oxford binding ‘Gibson Roll 1’ in his Notes on bindings in the Hunterian and general libraries in Glasgow University (1938), p. 6bis; rebacked, repaired and given new pastedowns in the late 19th-century.
