John Ratcliffe (1707-1776), book collector:  purchased by Ratcliffe for £0.8.0 at the West sale according to the annotated copy of the West sale catalogue in University of Glasgow Library (shelfmark Mu31-a.9);  Ratcliffe’s inscription “Perfect” on front flyleaf;  lot 764 in Bibliotheca Ratcliffiana (1776).
William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter for £0.15.6 at the Ratcliffe sale according to the annotated British Library copy of the Ratcliffe sale catalogue.
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “Bd.9.23”.
Binding: England, full black goatskin by Douglas Cockerell & Son, Aug. 1966, replacing an 18th-century, speckled brown sheep binding decorated with double gold fillets (sample of leather from original covers and title labels mounted on rear pastedown);  binder’s note tipped onto rear pastedown.   Size:  194 x 140 mm.
Leaf size: 185 x 132 mm.
Annotations: Underlining in brown ink on A6r.
Decoration: On A2r and A3r vertical rules in brown ink in outer margin only, enclosing text.
Imperfections: Outer margin of E1 trimmed and with small tear running into text;  text of lines 6-9 damaged on E3v.
