Provenance: | Byrchyns (16th/17th century): two heavily deleted inscriptions ‘Liber [...] Byrchyns(?)’ on a1r. Morne (16th/17th century): ‘Mr Morne’ on a1r. M. B. (17th century), probable owner: on p5v of the second work in the volume is a pen-and-ink device in the shape of a trefoil on a plinth incorporating the letters ‘M’ and ‘B’ and the motto ‘veritas odit moras’ (Seneca). Leonard Hotchkis (d. 1754), headmaster of Shrewsbury School: armorial bookplate (Franks 15434) on a1r. William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist: source unknown.
