Provenance: | Louis-Léon-Félicité, duc de Brancas de Lauraguais (1733-1824): possible owner; see below. William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist: according to Pietro Molini’s bill to Hunter (University of Glasgow Library, Hunter Papers, H214), he purchased a copy of the Sermones de sanctis for Hunter at the Brancas de Lauraguais sale (lot 69) for 36 livres 19 sous; however, lot 69 in Guillaume de Bure, Catalogue d’une collection de livres choisis, provenans du cabinet de M*** (Paris: 1770) is an edition described as “sine loco et anno” and bound in “M.R.” (i.e. red goatskin) - both descriptions being at odds with the present (and only) copy of this work in the Hunterian Library, which has a calf binding and in addition a spine label clearly identifying the edition as “1473”.
