William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow: purchased 12 June 1852 according to Euing’s pencil acquisition note with price code on verso of front free endpaper “12. 6. 52 bh/f Lilly” together with an early Euing inventory number “27”; also on the same page (and repeated on a2r) is a later Euing inventory number “No 3902”, which refers to a second copy of this work bought by Euing from the London bookseller, Thomas Arthur, 18 Dec. 1868, and “Presented to Mr J.G. Smith September 1870” according to Euing’s later acquisition inventory (University of Glasgow Library, MS Euing 49).
