L.J. Gaignat, 2 vols (Paris: 1769). NB according to the Bibliothèque Méjanes annotated copy (Res. O. 189) of the Gaignat sale catalogue, Gaignat bought the book for 20 livres.

Binding: France, 18th-century red goatskin;  covers decorated with a triple gold-fillet border, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  turquoise silk bookmark.   Size:  204 x 141 mm.
Leaf size: 198 x 137 mm.
Annotations: Interlinear correction to text on 15/5r (f.117r).  Quires numbered “1”-“15” (by the 18th-century binder?) at extreme left-hand lower corner of first recto.
Decoration: Initials supplied in red throughout, many with pen-flourishing;  frequent paragraph marks supplied in red.
Imperfections: Wanting 15/8 (f.120).
