| Binding: | 15th/16th-century blind-tooled calf over wooden boards; front cover decorated with intersecting quadruple fillets to form a centre panel bordered by two frames; the panel is divided by quaduple fillets into lozenge-shaped compartments, each decorated with a lozenge-shaped double fleur-de-lys stamp; the inner frame is decorated with a scroll bearing the lettering ‘+INRI+’; the outer frame is decorated with a five-petalled flower stamp; the rear cover has an identical design, except for the inner frame which is decorated with a rectangular stamp divided from corner to corner to form four triangles, each containing a section of a flower head; evidence of four bosses and a centre-piece on both boards, and of two clasps - all now lost; spine undecorated except for the number ‘2’ which has been added in gilt in the 19th century.
