Binding: England, early 19th-century diced russia, covers decorated with double blind fillets;  crest in gilt on both covers (see Provenance);  dark brown endpapers;  sprinkled red-edged leaves;  blue silk bookmark;  several 19th-century flyleaves at rear have a watermark “RUSE & TURNERS 1805”;  other flyleaves at rear have watermarks of a shield incorporating the cross of St George with a sword in the upper right-hand corner (cf. Heawood 454ss) and the letters “L V G”.   Size:  207 x 137 mm.

Annotations: Two “nota” marks on A1r;  evidence of early underlining (heavily washed out);  30-lines of unidentified medical(?) text in Latin in a 16th-century hand on A6v;  number “757” and 19th-century codes “mf/5/?”, “t/-”, “b/85(?)” on verso of front free endpaper;  various codes on rear pastedown “760/595”, “h/n”, “r/-” “if/ig”.
