James Edwards (1757-1816), bookseller and auctioneer, Halifax and London: lot *6685 in the Edwards sale catalogue, 'Bibliotheca Pinelliana: a catalogue of the magnificent and celebrated library of Maffei Pinelli, late of Venice ...' (London: James Edwards & James Robson, 1789) - the whole Pinelli Library had been bought by Edwards for £6,000 in 1788. Michael Wodhull (1740-1816), poet, translator and book collector: inscription in ink on front flyleaf “Pinelli Auction £1:12s:= M: Wodhull Apr: 16th 1789” i.e. referring to the auction sale of Pinelli’s library by James Edwards, London, 1789; with various bibliographical references e.g. to Panzer and Maittaire on front flyleaf in Wodhull’s hand; inscription in ink on rear flyleaf (also in Wodhull’s hand) “Dec: 26th 1799”. John Edmund Severne (1826-1899), of Thenford, Northamptonshire, M.P.: lot 2 in the sale catalogue, 'Catalogue of the extensive & valuable library collected at the end of the last and beginning of the present century by Michael Wodhull ... the property of J.E.
