Moving forward with Athena SWAN

The University's Gender Equality Steering Group and the Equality and Diversity Unit will monitor progress towards the goals set in the Athena SWAN Action Plan, however all staff need to ensure we are an organisation committed to gender equality.

In November 2013, Professor Anne Anderson, Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Social Sciences, was appointed as the University’s new Gender Equality Champion. Professor Anderson takes over the role from Professor Neal Juster, who was instrumental in achieving the University's Bronze award.
As part of her new role, Professor Anderson took over as chair of the University’s Gender Equality Steering Group which is responsible for overseeing, supporting and facilitating the implementation of University’s current Athena SWAN Bronze Award Action Plan.
