The University Counselling Service offers consultations and therapy with professional counsellors in complete confidence. You can find more information about the service on the website as well as self-help resources and useful numbers:
Information on how to register with a GP. The Barclay Medical Centre is on the ground floor of the Fraser Building (near the Library) on Campus.
All students and staff have access to Togetherall, a safe space online to get things off your chest and learn how to improve and manage your mental health and wellbeing. You can sign in with your university email.
If you would like to talk to someone on the phone, Breathing Space, is a free, confidential phone line offering advice to people experiencing anxiety, depression or low mood. They can be contacted on 0800 83 85 87, 6pm to 2am Monday to Thursday; and 24 hours at the weekend. Calls to Breathing Space are free from landlines and from mobile networks.
Glasgow University Nightline is a confidential listening service operated by students for students, you can find more information on their Facebook page
These organisations offer practical tips on how to manage your symptoms as well as support and guidance for managing your condition more generally:
- Beat Eating Disorders
- The Sanctuary, a chat room and safe space for people with an eating disorder to share concerns and advice on how they are coping with the pandemic
- Papyrus, prevention of young suicide: helpline and supporting resources
- The Stay Alive App: An app for those at risk of suicide and those worried about someone
- Anxiety UK: self-help resources for anxiety related conditions
- The Samaritans
