Two page chronological CV
Template: Two page chronological CV
Tips for this kind of CV:
- It is a two page model which is still accepted as standard across professional recruitment. Sometimes though, an employer will specifically ask for a one page CV
- Use your name as a heading and only include relevant personal details
- Here we have included a LinkedIn profile but you could add your full digital footprint if appropriate. For example if you have content like a portfolio you would like your reader to see or your YouTube channel if you are applying for something creative
- A profile at the top of page 1 is optional but can help target your CV. Keep it short and make it directly relevant to the role
- Use reverse chronological, which is starting with your most recent experience first and working back
- Bullet points break up text into readable chunks
- Use action verbs and try to show some measure of success
- Add context to your interests, what have you gained from them? What skills have you demonstrated?
- Download your CV as a PDF. Do not use docx, png, or jpg since an applicant tracking system may not be able to properly display the file or scan the text. For the same reason (applicant tracking system checks) avoid using columns or overly designed CV templates. For applicant tracking systems, simple designs work best
Top 5 of what recruiters usually look for in a CV:
- Experience and skills matched to what they are looking for
- Education, described and interpreted for them
- Results, responsibilities, achievements
- Skills and relevant software
- Volunteering and other interests
