We have particularly strong holdings of material relating to the following:
English Civil War
- Ogilvie: some 1,500 pamphlets printed during the English Civil War period
Franco-Prussian War
- Caricatures: 3,188 political caricatures (mainly lithographs) covering the Franco-Prussian War, the Paris Commune of 1871 and the later years of the 1870s
Spanish Civil War
- Bissett: includes pamphlets on the Spanish Civil War
World War One
- Alec Lawrence Macfie Papers: includes letters written between 1917-18 describing military training and World War I service in France
- MS Gen 1376 & MS Gen 532: Papers relating to the 6th Cameron Highlanders in World War I
