Peter Donald Thomson Papers
Papers, consisting mainly of sermons, of the Very Reverend Peter Donald Thomson (1872-1955).
Glasgow born Thomson was educated at Helensborough's Hermitage Academy and the University of Glasgow, before going on to attend the Glasgow Free Church College. He was ordained Free Church Minister of Peterculter in 1897; after a brief spell as minister in Kircaldy, Thomson became the Minister for Glasgow Kelvinside-Botanic Gardens, firstly for the United Free Church then, following the 1929 union with the Kirk, for the Church of Scotland. His long career included serving as chaplain to the forces during the First World War and becoming Moderator of the Church of Scotland in 1934.
His papers were donated by his grandson, Rev. Peter David Thomson, in 1988.
