Bannerman Papers
240 documents relating to the economist and philosopher Adam Smith, including a large number of autograph letters to and from Smith. Formerly in the possession of the Rev. Dr David Douglas Bannerman, a descendant of David Douglas, Lord Reston, Adam Smith’s heir.
The original Bannerman collection has been considerably augmented over the years by further gifts and purchases of letters and lecture notes of Adam Smith.
