Alec Lawrence Macfie Papers
A miscellaneous collection of photographs and correspondence relating to Alec Lawrence Macfie (1898-1980), a former Professor of Political Economy at the University of Glasgow.
Amongst the papers are letters and postcards written by Macfie to his mother between 1917-18 describing his military training and World War I service in France. Also included are notes of lectures on Moral Philosophy taken by Macfie at the University of Glasgow in 1919-20.
Later correspondents in the collection include Sir Alexander Cairncross and Professor Andrew Skinner. Accompanying the papers are several photographic albums relating to his brother, John Mandeville Macfie, with scenes of military service and travel.
The papers were donated by Andrew Skinner (1935-2011), Adam Smith Professor of Political Economy at the University of Glasgow, 1994-2000.
