Andrew Service kept a logbook while serving on HMS Medusa between 1802 and his return to Greenock in 1810. There are 3 galleries (Gallery 1, Gallery 2 and Gallery 3) displaying all twenty-one pages of the logbook.
HMS Medusa was launched on 14th April 1801, having been built by Pitcher of Northfleet. Images courtesy of the National Maritime Museum.
The logbook of Andrew Service sustained significant damage caused by handling and changes in temperature and humidity during the 200 years of its existence. This gallery depicts the work undertaken by the Book & Paper Conservation Studio in the University of Dundee Library to repair and conserve the logbook for future generations.
